RS PRO Silicone Impregnated Braided Fibreglass Cable Sleeving
From RS PRO a high quality highly flexible braided fibreglass cable sleeving or cable tubing impregnated with a silicone varnish. This highly resilient cable sleeving has high-temperature capabilities of up to 300°C and is self-extinguishing and LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) which means it does not release dangerous gasses when it burns. These unique qualities make this braided cable sleeve ideal for use in electrical insulation applications where there are high operating temperatures. This cable sleeve is easy to apply by simply routing your cables and wires through the inside. The excellent flexibility of this sleeving means it can bend around a diameter less than 10 times its bore without flattening.
What is Braided Sleeving?
Braided sleeving with its flexible and durable design provides an effective and easy to use cable management solution for containing individual cables or bundles of cables. Cable sleeving also offers excellent protection to cables and wires against damage caused by abrasion from sharp edges, high impacts, vibration and mechanical stress. Depending on the material used, braided sleeving also protects the cable or wire from high temperatures, chemicals and solvents.
Features and Benefits
Excellent high temperature resistance
LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen)
Self Extinguishing
Highly flexible
Excellent resistance to solvents
Good fray resistance when it is cut
High oxygen index
Compatible with most impregnating varnish systems
Highly resilient and will recover roundness after being flattened
Where is Braided Glass Fibre Cable Sleeving Used?
This braided cable sleeving is lightweight and flexible and provides a protective covering and insulation for electrical wires, cables and flexible conduit and can also be used as a cable management sleeve to keep your wires tidy. The unique thermal properties and high temperature protection that this braided sleeve offers make it ideal for use in areas where low fire hazard properties are required. These areas include public places where it is often used for mass transit cable protection and underground applications. This cable sleeve can also be used in high temperature rated domestic appliances and for wire harness in the automobile industry.
Applications
Mass transit cable protection
Rail Harnessing - EN45545 Approved
Rail Tunnel applications
Exhaust assemblies and system components
Automobile wire harnessing
Heating appliances and central heating boilers.
How Do You Install Braided Cable Sleeving?
Select the cable sleeving diameter you require and cut the sleeve to the correct length, sciissors can be used but if the sleeve is not cut correctly it can fray. To prevent fraying use a hot cutting tool such as a hot knife or a soldering iron with a sharp tip. Slice the cable braid using even pressure to leave an evenly sealed edge on the material. Once the sleeve is cut to size simply push and slide the cable sleeving into place over the cable or fittings.
Warning
Dust or broken particles from this glass fibre sleeving can cause irritation to sensitive skin therefore care must be taken to minimise dust formation when handling or cutting.
